Dalton Garlitz 03/08/1938 – 04/10/2021 (Dalt) always said you could be an old pilot or a bold pilot, but you could never be an old bold pilot. Dalt was an OLD beloved pilot when he took his last solo flight. He is survived by his wife Patsy, two daughters Laurie & Lisa, and four grandchildren. A lifelong Grand Valley resident, true adventurer, history enthusiast, kindhearted, generous man. Dalt grew up on a farm in Fruita. Summers were spent picking cucumbers for pickling, to buy fireworks. He graduated from Fruita High School and paid his way through college by going to Alaska in the summer to survey land. He married, acquired an apprenticeship in sheet metal, and was a prolific builder of things, boats, furniture, and radio control airplanes. He became a junior partner at MtGarfield Plumbing and Heating and later bought the business. He was a generous teacher, giving time to the Colorado River Skippers Water Ski Team, EAA (Young Eagles), and filled many a toolbox for family and friends. His sense of adventure and curiosity for the world lives on through his family. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated: EAA800 (Young Eagle Aviators) c/o Ken Hurt 3405 C1/2 Rd Palisade CO 81526.
