Dan (The Coffee Guy) Welsh

February 10, 1954 to July 19, 2022

Dan passed away July 19, 2022 after a valiant 5 year journey with acute leukemia. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Gerald and Josephine Welsh. He graduated from Bonneville High School in 1972. He enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country for 3 years as an Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technician. In 1977 he married Kathy Chafin and from this marriage had two wonderful children in Katie and Andy Welsh. They moved to Oregon in 1980 and were later divorced. He graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors degree in accounting in 1980 and received his CPA certificate. He worked as a controller for Pepsi Cola for 25 years.

In 1997 he married Ronette Griner and in 2001 adopted a beautiful daughter from China named Danielle Meixiao Welsh. During his spare time he got involved in the coffee business and started Oregon Legacy Coffee with his wife Roni. In 2002 they moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where they founded Colorado Legacy Coffee. Dan loved the coffee business and loved his many loyal coffee customers who became his friends.

In June of 2017 Dan was diagnosed with Acute Biphenotipic Leukemia, a very rare and difficult form of Leukemia. When he learned the survival rate was 3% his comment was "so you're telling me I have a chance." Dan spent three 30-day stints at Huntsman Cancer Hospital in Salt Lake City and 419 days at the Bone Marrow Transplant unit at the Veterans Administration hospital in Seattle where he received two bone marrow transplants. In July of 2020 he was in full remission and was able to return home. In April of 2022 it was determined that the Leukemia had returned. After many chemotherapy infusions that were unsuccessful, he ultimately passed away.

Dan was predeceased by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his amazing wife and caregiver Roni as well as 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 3 children. His greatest joy is that all three of his children are successful and productive citizens.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service, and a Celebration of Life will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Church, 736 24 Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505, on Friday, July 29, 2022 at 11am.
