Darrell Jay Adderley moved on to Heaven to rest in peace and get his wings on 10/16/2024.
In Darrell fashion, Cancer took him Fast & Furious from us way too soon.
Darrell was born in Murray, Utah. June 30th, 1956, to Elona Johanna Freeman Adderley and Keith Jay Adderley. In the 60’s he was brought up with 2 brothers and 4 sisters. 70’s was working on race cars and partying hard.
Late 70’s he had 3 beautiful children with Lisa K. Christensen, Dustin Jay, Messia Ann and Cody Dee. 80’s was raising his family and loved coaching the boys in baseball with Uncle Randy Olearain. Boy the stories those kids have. Back then Darrell was a true Rebel. Handlebar moustache, panel van and would come at you with a vengeance if you messed with any of his family.
Darrell was given the opportunity to learn turbos and he ran with it and made a name for himself in the Diesel Industry. The man loved to tear down and rebuild any turbo and make it shine. He was a great conversationalist. He could spend hours talking about anything.
Later in the 80’s he moved his family to Colorado to make a better life for them. He worked two jobs to make sure they would have a better life.
90’s the family moved to Commerce City, Colo. Where he worked and loved Donner Diesel.
I met Darrell and the kids in early 1992. Dustin just turned 13 and was Dad’s protector, Messia was going on 12 and was the care giver. Cody just turned 11 and turned into a rebel (just like his dad). I was me, a hard core 30 yr. old with a special needs son Russell who was 7 yrs old. Darrell became our rock, and he loved Russell like his own and was a true Dad to him, through thick and thin.
Darrell took me under his wings and became my best friend and the Love of My Life. He always carried strong values and didn’t make life easy if you wouldn’t see the potential in yourself. We all grew up together and lived to be true to ourselves. Darrell taught me to let the past stay in the past as it doesn’t reflect on who you are now. With his words of wisdom, I learned to be me and not so revengeful.
We moved to Grand Junction in 2004 to have our dream home and castle. Darrell travelled the Western Slope as a travelling diesel salesman. Throughout that time, he made lifelong friends. Later years times got tighter, he worked at Community Hospital as a janitor on the night shift. Then he worked at Loomis as a driver and mechanic for them. 2021 he was forced into early retirement.
Darrell enjoyed our castle and our back deck. He was my crafting buddy, and we created some cool and one-of-a-kind art for our castle. His request was to pass in his castle built with love. Which was honored.
Darrell has a gentle soul with a firm conviction of beliefs. If you came into his life and were a true soul, you became family. We have kids from all phases of Darrell’s life that are truly our kids. He loved giving life advice and loved all of us even when we wouldn’t listen. Later he would tell us “If you would have listened in the first place, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Now how are you going to fix this?”
Darrell is loved by many and will be truly missed. My Love, my pledge to you is to stay true to our beliefs and be the strong ass woman you fell in Love with. Till we untie again my Boo!
We have the privilege to watch our kids grow into amazing adults and expand our loving family.
Along with 4 beautiful Adult Children, we are blessed with 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. All of you have been an amazing blessing to our family. Along with so many we called our kids for another.
Please share the wonderful stories you have of our beloved Darrell Adderley. We as a Family will Celebrate his Life when we can have ALL our kids with us. We will take him to more camping in the Mesa, more live NASCAR races, we’ll slide in an Avalanche game but wherever we go Darrell will be with us.
With much love and sadness,
His loving Wife Michelle
This man right here. So many words can’t express what he has had to say, or the advice he has given me in life. He has helped raise me, my son, and so many others in life from the age of 9 years old. He took me in. Told me flat out that I was a dumb shit! Helped me fix cars, showed me carpentry work! Although it was for speaker boxes for our cars. Slowly but surely most of all. He never stopped loving me❤️. Darrell Adderley. I am honored and blessed to have had you in my life. For your children, my children, grandchildren and all of our family to remember! I salute you good sir!! May you rest in peace and rest easy. We all love you 😘 and hope you rest easy Pops. God rest your soul. Amen. 🙏 I love you! ❤️ Bobby St. Clair
