Darrell John Alire, age 35, of Grand Junction, CO passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital following a brief illness. Born May 30, 1979 in Grand Junction, he was the son of the late Jose Esteven and Darlene Angelina Greigo Alire. Darrell was proud of his Native American heritage having descended from the Cherokee Nation. Darrell graduated from Central High School in 1997. He earned his prerequisites at Mesa State College, and went on to earn his Medical Assistant Certificate from IntelliTec College. Most recently, he had worked in the oil fields in the Oil and Natural Gas industry. Darrell was a hard worker who was committed to caring for his family. He loved hunting, fishing, and horseracing. As a dedicated Bronco’s fan, he seldom missed watching a Bronco’s game and could often be seen wearing his Bronco’s shirt and cap. What set Darrell apart was his love and devotion to family and friends. Whether near or far away, he was never too busy to visit the people he loved. Survivors include his wife, Carmen Marie Valles, three daughters, Angelica, Zilenna, and Taliyah, a son Gregory, a brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Arlinda, two nephews, Matthew and Ben, all of Grand Junction, CO, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 536 Ouray Avenue, Grand Junction, CO, from 6 pm to 9 pm with a Rosary at 7 o’clock p.m. Friends are invited to a Mass of the Resurrection at St. Joseph Church, 230 N. 3rd St, Grand Junction, CO on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 11 am, followed by inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, in Orchard Mesa. Memorial contributions may be made to his children in care of his wife, Carmen. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation Service.
