Darrell Young

December 3rd, 2020, Darrell L Young 78 loving friend, brother, uncle, grandpa, and father passed away quietly.  Darrell was born November 24, 1942 in Hugo Colorado to Richard and Emma Young. If you asked Darrell his middle name, his witty response was “lucky”.  He grew up working the family farm in Arriba Colorado, growing wheat and raising cattle. He had 4 siblings.  Donald, Barbara, twin brother Doug, and Dorthy. An Army Veteran, he spent 4 years in Germany with his wife.  He had fond memories traveling Europe.  In 1970 he moved to Grand Junction Colorado and welcomed his #1 son Roger and in 1975 his favorite daughter Trina.  Darrell loved taking his children skiing, camping and 4-wheeling. Camping in the mountains of Telluride, Ouray and Gunnison were top of his list. Large campfires at night. Scouting mines by day. If you were dirty you washed in the creek.  Darrell would make killer breakfast on the grill.  He managed the United Fruit Growers Association in Palisade and then found his calling, an insurance agent, traveling to meet clients. Darrell had 2 grandsons, Zander Duncan, 17 and Logan Duncan, 15.  He never missed any activity and took them for lunch dates. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents and brother Doug.
