David Allen Conrad

March 14, 1946 — February 27, 2025

David Allen Conrad, Age 78, died February 27, 2025, following a prolonged illness. Born March 14, 1946, in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Ora A. and Beatrice M. Conrad.

David graduated from Southport High School, with a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana Central College, and later obtained 2 Master’s degrees from the University of South Florida. 

David was employed by the Hillsborough County School System where he taught High School Mathematics for 30 years. He also taught as an Adjunct Teacher at Hillsborough County Community College for 16 years.

He was a long-time member of the United Church of Christ in Indiana, Florida, and Pennsylvania. He later became a member of First Presbyterian Church of Brandon where he was ordained and an Elder. David was a Sunday School Teacher, The Moderator of several Churches, served with Meals on Wheels and on Building and Ground Committees. He worked at Lake Byrd Lodge in Avon Park, FL and Camp Living Waters in Shellsburg, PA where he met and married the love of his life. They shared an impressive 45 years of marriage together. Most recently, David was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Grand Junction. He enjoyed attending Worship and participated in a Men’s Bible Study Group. 

David was an avid sports fan, particularly Little League Baseball and Softball. He umpired both sports for about 15 years and his proudest moment was being invited to umpire at the Southeast Regional Girls Softball Tournament in Warner Robins Ga. 

David was very animated, outgoing and had a hard time sitting still. He loved tinkering with wood and being outside. He loved getting on his riding lawnmower and mowing the grass.

He was a proud and dedicated father to his children and enjoyed participating and supporting them in all their sports and school activities. He was a great advocate for children of all ages.

David was preceded in death by his parents. David is survived by his wife Karen, daughter Rebecca (Zach)Barker, son Matthew (Christina) Conrad and three granddaughters, Cindy, Anna and Charlotte who were the absolute pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his brother Donald (Catherine) Conrad of Indianapolis, IN and 3 nephews and their families. A Memorial Service will be held on March 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Grand Junction, 3940 27 ½ Rd Grand Junction, CO 81506. Services have been entrusted to Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service with Rev. Thomas Hansen officiating.
