David Allen Godby
David Allen Godby, age 59, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his residence, following a long illness.
Born August 10, 1956 in Fruita, CO, he was the son of Helen Smith Godby of Grand Junction, CO and the late William Allen Godby. He was a graduate of Central High School and has lived and worked in the Grand Junction area his entire life.
It was a “blind date” that resulted in a “love at first sight” romance that grew deeper over the years and lasted a lifetime. David and Tracy Lynn Peeples were married in 1986.
David possessed many skills and interests during his working career. Most recently, he had been a Termite Technician for Orkin for nine years. He did food service route sales, and before that, had driven a cement truck. David was a hard worker who loved people and providing great customer service came naturally to him.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, family vacations, camping, hunting and archery.
David was totally dedicated to his family. He loved his children very much and loved his wife even more.
Always a jokester, sometimes a “pack-rat”, David was a spiritual and kind soul. He cherished the small things in life, and always remained calm and positive.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother Steve.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy, daughter, Jessica, and son Garrett, all of Grand Junction. He also had two sons, Andrew and Ryan and three grandchildren, all of Houston, TX. His mother, Helen Godby, and sister, Karen Shoffstal, also reside in Grand Junction.
Also left behind, but not forgotten, are his loving canine companions, Lily and Lucy.
David was of gentle in nature…kindness of soul and true to heart. He will be miss by all who knew him.
Please consider making a memorial contribution in David’s name to Hope West Hospice, 3090 N. 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
A family gathering will be held.
