Dawn LaRae Sheetz passed away on December 27, 2016, after a sudden illness. She was born on May 15, 1954 in Rock Island, Illinois to Celia (Campbell) and Raymond Sheetz.
She attended Savannah High School in Anaheim, California, graduating in 1972. In 1977 the family settled in Western Colorado.
Dawn was employed at Lowe’s in Grand Junction for 13 years. Dawn helped open the store in 2003. Her roles included Department Manager and Assistant Store Manager. Dawn was very proud of her many accomplishments and received generous recognition throughout her career.
She loved spending time with her family and loved watching her grandkids participate in activities, including rodeo, football, and ice skating. She also enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, and being outdoors. She had a sincere love for animals, and often donated to shelter and rescue pets. Dawn always put others first. She liked to joke around and have a good time. Her heart was always open to giving advice, lending an ear, and offering a shoulder to anyone in need. Family was always first.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Dawn in survived by a son, Matthew (Brandee) Barker of Grand Junction; two daughters, Ashley (Chad) Bronson of Mack; Robyn Barker of Grand Junction; four grandkids, Blane Barker, Sydnee Barker, Coy Bronson, and Brooklynne Bronson; one brother, Bruce Sheetz of Arvada; and former spouse and friend Rick Barker of Grand Junction.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 PM, at Victory Life Church, 2066 Highway 6 & 50, Fruita, Colorado.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and HopeWest Kids.
