Deborah Yvonne Haws, of Fruita, went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 8, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Deb was born on November 29, 1954 to Donald and Doris Stine in Decatur, Al. She was raised in Adrian, Mi where she stayed until her young adult years. Through her adventures she made her way to California where she met and fell in love with Ken Oest. Deb & Ken had four children and eventually made their home in Fruita. In 1990 they were divorced and Deb moved back home to Michigan. She spent her life loving on people through her career as a Registered Nurse. Further life adventures took her to Missouri, where she met Dub Haws. They married in 2000. As their Colorado grandkid numbers kept increasing, Dub & Deb moved to Fruita. They spent the last 10 years loving on and investing in their grandchildren. While Debs life entailed so much more, her legacy will always be being an amazing Meme and a fierce lover of Jesus. Debs love for her grandkids and her desire to share God’s love was her life mission. Because of her love for the Lord we don’t mourn the loss of Deb, instead we rejoice that she is walking with her Savior.
Deb was proceeded in death by her father, Donald, her mother, Doris, and her precious baby girl Kendra Rayanne.
Deb is survived by her husband, Dub, her daughters, Chris (Rob), Kim (Dan), Erin, Dustine (Ian), and Amber (Nick), and her sons, Travis (Bo), Kelly (Melissa), and Kyle (Tara).
She was Meme to Kendra Grace, Dalton, Francis, Elijah, Alexander, Nikayla, Kenson, Charlie, Alex, Evan, Ethan, Lauren, Julianna, Jacxon, Liam, Landry, Lennox, Gavin, Tremaine, Tenzy, Courtney, Jeremiah, Sydni, Zachariah, Tyler, Zach, Dylan, and Dawson. She was sister to Judy (Larry), Aaron (Niki), Phillip, JD (Debbie), Wade, Rob (Melba), and Dee. She was friend and mentor to many.
A potluck-style celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 12 from noon to 3pm at Connection Church in Grand Junction.
The family is requesting friends to write a short note or letter about what Deb meant to them. These will be gifts passed on to her grandchildren, helping them remember their Meme through others’ eyes. Letters can be mailed to Amber Peck 2405 Broadway Grand Junction, CO 81507
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Jewish Voice Ministries International at jewishvoice.org.
