Debra Jo Hamilton, 64, died, January 6, 2024, following a courageous battle with lung cancer. The tenacity with which she battled her disease mirrored how she lived her life as a fierce sentry for her family.
Debbie spent many of her days sewing and creating beautiful quilts, piece by piece, tirelessly working to complete a warm blanket full of memories and comfort. It is with that same care she created her family tapestry, the one to which she gave her greatest labor and love. It was a vibrant quilt made of squares of magical Christmas parties, vacations, and birthdays. Each occasion filled with intricate and unique details, crafted to provide lasting memories for her children and grandchildren. Her joy came from the smiles and hugs of those who were the recipients of her handiwork.
Born October 26, 1959 in Ogallala, NE, Debbie was the daughter of the late Alvin Lehl and Angie Lehl (Westminster, CO). She attended elementary school in both Thornton, CO, and Hastings (NE) before settling in Arvada, CO where she attended Oberon Junior High and graduated from Arvada West High School in 1977. She attended Mesa State College for one year where she met the love of her life Jamie Hamilton. They married in 1980 and began their lives together in Grand Junction, CO.
Debbie worked as a bank teller until the birth of their daughter Sarah and then embarked on the toughest job of all, that of stay at home mom. With the birth of their son Dane, the family was in full swing, and Debbie was an enthusiastic fan to all her kids adventures from dance to baseball and events in between. Raising her family is where she flourished and began to weave the tight family threads that have withstood the years. Supporting Jamie in his professional and community endeavors and helping instill Sarah and Dane with the same family values as they began to fashion their own lives.
Preceded in death by her father Alvin Lehl. She is survived by her husband of 43 years Jamie. Daughter Sarah Pollard (Corey Kuburich) of Aurora, CO. Son, Dane (Kaci) Hamilton of Parker, CO. Granddaughters Mikayla, Sienna and Lennon. Step Grandson’s Braxton and Greyson. Mother, Angie Lehl of Westminster, CO. Brother Randy (Desa) Lehl of Loveland, CO.
