Dee Ann O’Rear, age 84, passed away on July 14, 2024. Dee Ann was born November 14, 1939, in Coffeyville, Kansas. She was the daughter of Johnny Mathis and Mary Mathis. Dee Ann grew up in the Coffeyville, Kansas area. At age 16, Dee Ann met the love of her life of 65 years, Billie Howard O’Rear. After a whirlwind romance Billie and Dee married on December 24, 1956. In 1960, Dee and Billie moved to Colorado where Dee Ann was a homemaker caring for 7 children and many others for which she and Billie opened their home. Dee Ann was a lady that loved to help people. She was a pastor and worked in the ministryhelping to start several churches, sang with the Voices of Christ, was a counselor and served in prison ministry. Dee Ann was a precious soul with a giving spirit. She cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an artist and could often be found painting, drawing, carving orsewing. Dee Ann was preceded in death by her husband Billie Howard O’Rear, mother, Mary Mathis, father, Johnny Mathis, father in-law William Howard O’Rear, mother in-law, Edith ViolettaO’Rear, brother-in-law, Lorne (Lon) Moats, nephew, Brett AlanMoats, and grandson, Christopher Michael Burke.
Dee Ann is survived by her sister, Mary Ellen Mathis, sister in-law Carol Moats, children, Cynthia Watts, Edith (Dale) Gerdes, Ruben (Sandra) O’Rear, Dee (Michael) Burke, Matthew Musich, Stephen Musich, Eleni Adamassu; 13 grandchildren, 15great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Dee Ann’s Memorial Service will be held on August 10, 2024,at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Church in the Two Rivers Room. (765 24 Road, Grand Junction, Colorado)
