Obituary for Demory Brian Campbell

The world lost a kind and gentle man on May 25, 2017 when Demory “Brian” Campbell passed from this earth to his heavenly Home.

Born December 1, 1955 in Grand Junction, Colorado, Brian was the son of the late Lyle and Betty Campbell.

After graduating from Fruita Monument High School in 1974 he began his career in Grocery Management. He managed many stores on the Western Slope including Glenwood Springs, Rifle, Parachute and Craig. He also managed stores on the Oregon Coast and Alaska.

Brian took great pride in every community he lived in and worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of those in need and to help build the communities. He led his life in service to others, raising funds for those in need, volunteering for everything he could that would help others, especially the little ones.

He always had a connection with the outdoors and wildlife, finding peace and solace through fishing, hunting and camping.  Brian was also an avid sports fan. Football was his favorite sport and he was a huge fan of the Denver Broncos.

Most of all, Brian loved his children, David and Caren. He loved taking them to new places and having fun adventures. He coached their t-ball and Little League teams and was the first one out the door, glove and ball in hand. He loved taking them to the mountains for fishing and camping.  He was about to become a Grandpa for the first time and was so excited to meet his grandson.

He thought of his Rotary Exchange students, Christine and Peter from Germany and Chatchawan from Thailand as his “other kids” and maintained contact with them for 20 years.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Avery Lyle and Betty Gillette Campbell; his beloved sister, Janice Potter and her husband Dale Potter.

Brian is survived by his children, David Campbell of Aloha, OR and Caren Campbell of Ft Collins, CO; his brother, Avery Campbell and wife Maggie of Montrose, his brother Steve Campbell and wife Donna of Pinedale, WY, his sister, Ruth Scales and husband Bob of Whitewater, many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Lee and Joanne Burg of Mesa, CO., and Kathleen Campbell of Wasilla, AK.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Brian’s name to your favorite local charity.
