Dennis was born in Grand Junction to Marvin & Donna Barnes. He fought a valiant two year battle against Colon Cancer. Dennis was 56 years old. Dennis grew up in GJ and graduated from Central High School in 1977.
He married Michelle Zohner in 1982 and they were married for 33 years. Together they had two children, Lindsey & Tucker Barnes both from GJ. Dennis followed his father’s footsteps at a very young age, starting in high school he began working at Holsum Bakery. He was there for 24 years. He then moved on to work for his brother, Donald Barnes at Barnes Electric.
He began operating the heavy equipment in 2000. His favorite was operating the crane/bucket truck, it was a job with a view. He enjoyed his job and everyone who he had a chance to work with. Dennis loved all the outdoors: hunting, fishing, & trapshooting. He excelled in many sports especially softball and volleyball. In his younger years he was an avid bowler.
Dennis loved waterskiing and was an avid downhill skier who had grace and style. He enjoyed the many Lake Powell trips with family & friends and fun was always had. There was a lot of life experiences gained at the lake.
He loved the sport of softball and baseball, be it playing the game, coaching or just plain watching those Rockies. He coached both his kids, Lindsey and Tucker, through Little League and High School.
He is survived by his wife Michelle, children Lindsey and Tucker, his mother Donna Barnes, sister Danna (Gregg) Palmer, brother Donald (Angela) Barnes, grandmother Hazel Hale, many cousins, and many loved nieces and nephews. His father, Marvin Barnes, recently preceded him in death.
Services are Friday August 14, 2015 at Clifton Christian Church at 4 pm. Donations to be made in honor of Dennis to Hope West Hospice, 3090B N.12 th St 81506.
