Dennis LeRoy Kirkhart age 78 passed away peacefully at Hope West Care Center on 25 May, 2022.
LeRoy was born on July 29, 1943 in gate, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Ruth Kirkhart, of Grand Junction Colorado.
He graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1962. He bravely served in the US Army in the Vietnam conflict. He then did a lot of construction type work, until he met and married his wife Dee, and together, they bought and ran the Brass Rail lounge for 44 years.
He had a lifetime membership to the VFW, and American Legion, and was a member of the Church of Christ.
He enjoyed bowling leagues for many years until he discovered golf. He became an avid golfer, and was renowned for keeping a running tally of everyone’s strokes in his head. He loved fishing, boating and camping with family and friends, particularly at Lake Powell. LeRoy and Family traveled all over the United States and parts of Mexico, Canada, and Hawaii, enjoying sightseeing, shopping, amusement parks, and beaches.
He was a friendly, outgoing man, with a bit of a jokester personality. He loved family time, but was also hard-working and always provided for his family.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his father, Charles Kirkhart, his mother Ruth Kirkhart, his brother Robert Kirkhart, and his sister Margaret Heely.
LeRoy is survived by, his wife Dee Kirkhart, daughters Eve Kirkhart, Julie Kirkhart, Jodie Wunderwald, and Deyon Kirkhart (Sarah). And grandchildren, David Archuleta, Cassandra Archuleta, Nick Kirkhart, Zoe Kirkhart, and Jessie Rowles. Great grandchildren, Odin Archuleta and Paisley Archuleta. And numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held June 22, 11 AM, at Patterson Rd., Church of Christ, then there will be a procession to the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2830 Riverside Parkway, for a short Military Honor Service at 1 PM. There will also be a get together at the Brass Rail at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Wounded Warrior Project, it was a favorite charity of Leroy’s.
Services have been entrusted to Brown’s cremation and funeral services.
