Diana Jo Diers passed away April 10, 2024 in Grand Junction, Colorado . She was born in
Denver Colorado, on September 8, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Alva “Fred”
Frederick and Margaret (Sollenbarger) White. She grew up in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and
graduated from Wheat Ridge High School.
Diana was a loving wife, revered mother, doting grandmother, and a great grandmother. As a
self-proclaimed “Boulder Snob”, she was an activist and an active supporter of many
foundations and civic causes in Boulder during the 1960’s, 70’s, and 80’s. She taught us all to
think, to think for ourselves, to speak up individually and to speak thoughtfully from our minds.
Diana valued education for herself, for all of her children and grandchildren. She spoke proudly
of all their accomplishments and educational achievements.
Diana cherished her ability to travel and toured the world twice with her husband, touching six of
the seven continents. She fostered her global view of life to her children and grandchildren.
With her husband, the two of them lived in Northern Ireland for one year on an educational
exchange grant. That year abroad changed their lives and world perspective. After Diana’s
retirement, they sold their property in Boulder, bought a motorhome, and became full-time
motorhome RV travelers for 12 years, touring all through North America. The retired pair
motored south in the winter, wandered north in the summer.
Diana’s career was filled with many administrative assistant positions. She found her niche and
thrived at the University of Colorado, where she spent fifteen years working as an administrative
assistant at the University of Colorado in Boulder in the Athletic and ROTC Departments (She
was a lifelong fan and season ticket holder of CU Buffalo football team). In her spare time,
Diana loved working in floral shops, where she fashioned and shaped floral arrangements for hundreds of City of Boulder occasions, as well as her family and friends.
In her free time, Diana could always be caught with her nose in a book. She loved good
mysteries and mysterious literature. Especially those inexplicable tales that were composed in
the setting of the British Isles.
Diana is survived by her husband of 67 years, Don Ray Diers, her daughter Holly Diers Stroud
of Broomfield, Colorado and son Matthew Diers of Palisade, Colorado.
Don and Diana shared five grandchildren, Patrick Diers, Carleigh (Stroud) Houser, Abigale
Diers, Amy Stroud, and Lucas Diers. Between the two of them, they followed the exploits of their
five great grandchildren, Kyla Lewis, Finley Diers, Beckett Diers, Poppy Diers and Shelby Lewis.
Other family members who are survived by Diana are her brother Gordon E. White from
Chicago and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brothers Stephen
White, Michael Johnson Sr., Paul Abbott, her parents Alva (Fred) and Margaret (Sollenbarger)
White, and her in-laws Henry and Cora Diers.
Diana was loved deeply by her family and will be missed by all who knew her. We all bid her farewell and wish her continued happiness and grace on her journey.
There will not be a celebration of life for service in Grand Junction for Diana. But in Boulder, her memorial service will be on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Grace Lutheran Church 1001 13th Street in Boulder, Colorado 80301 at 12:30 p.m. After the service there will be a party at the American Legion Boulder Post #10 4760 28th Ave. Boulder, Colorado 80301.
