Don Halsey, age 82, died January 10, 2016. He was born March 15, 1933 in Boone County, Nebraska to Mark Thomas and Ida Louise (Schindler) Halsey. He grew up in Xenia, OH and lived most of his life in Sheridan, WY. Don spent the last five years in Grand Junction, CO. He retired from the National Weather Service August 27, 1988 after 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by Lora Kay Adams, Grand Junction, CO; Charles Steven Halsey, Springboro, OH; Teresa Lynn Turpin, Grand Junction, CO; Gena Louise Halsey, Palisade, CO and Gregory Eugene Halsey, Camdenton, MO. Don also is the proud grandpa of 8 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Don has two sisters, Sharon Louise Cave and Mary Jean Parry, both of Phoenix, AZ. His brother and best friend, William (Willie) K. Halsey preceded his death in 2014. There will be absolutely no religious service of any kind. Don stated, "I have no regrets about anything I did or didn't do. That is just one of the vagaries of life. There are some things I would have done differently but to reflect the past serves no purpose. I end with the same philosophies I carried in life. The God I believe in exists solely within one's self. I will miss being with my kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids as you all grown older... but I have had a full life, and cannot complain." Donations will be accepted by the survivors. Family and friends will gather in remembrance of Don during a mountain camp trip later this summer. 13 Attachments
