Donald Meinen

Donald/Bud Meinen age 92. Joined the angels on September 30, 2021 at the Veterans Care Center in Rifle CO. Don was born June 19, 1929 in Hebron Nebraska.  Son of Earnest John and Ida Bartling Meinen. He is preceded in death by his father Ernest John in 1968. His mother Ida Bartling of 98 years passed in 1994. Brothers Orville, 1978,  Delbert in 1999.  His sister Loetta passed in 2008. Granddaughters Jennifer(1971), Heather  2008.  Michael his oldest son 2011. His beloved wife JoAnne (Annie) in 2016.

His sister Marjorie (Gene) live in Colorado Springs. Timothy (Mary) his son Rangely Co., Sue (Robert)Coquoz  Meeker Co and Nancy (Craig) Jay  Parachute CO

On July 17, 1948 he married his high school sweetheart Jo Anne Wagor and lifelong love of 68 years.

Don enlisted in the United States Army Airborne Infantry on May 11,1948 – April 1950. Mechanic and paratrooper in the 82nd airborne.

He had a great reputation for his operating an old quickway backhoe. He loved the mining industry. He loved football his favorite team-Nebraska Corn Huskers. His home he says was Leadville.

He has 8 grandchildren.16 great grands and several great great grands.

Service will be at Browns Funeral Home, Grand Jct., Friday October 22 at 3pm.
