Donna Bennett

February 18, 1943 — December 4, 2020

Donna Kaye Bennett died on Friday, December 4th in the Memory Care Unit at Horizons Care Center in Eckert, CO. She retired from Grand Valley By-Products Company, where she worked for over three decades.

Donna was born on February 18, 1943 to Melvin B. & Marie Seevers of Grand Junction, CO, the second of their three children. At the time, Birdie and Marie’s home was “almost country” so growing up, all of the family had chores. Donna  generally chose outdoor chores, which led to a lifelong joy in gardening and yard work. At one time the Daily Sentinel ran a photo of the giant white pumpkins she grew, and then painted faces on them for Halloween decorations on the front porch. The holidays were a special time of year for Donna and her family. She loved to decorate, make candy, and help cook big holiday dinners for the whole family.

She had a swimming pool built when her son was young, as she and his dad wanted to get to know his friends. The backyard became a frequent gathering place for friends and family.

Donna was a talented artist and her painting projects included flowers, landscapes, wildlife, horses and Labrador retrievers. She loved fishing, camping and Jeeping in western Colorado and eastern Utah. Her special favorites were Lake City, Grand Mesa, Gateway, and the Bookcliffs.

Donna is survived by her son, William W. Bennett (Sheila Scott), brother Melvin Seevers (Georgia) and nephews Mel and Michael, sister Judy Workman (Alan) and nieces Shawna James(Neil) and their daughter Lauren, Kristin Brooks and her son Jacob.

Farewell to our feisty, beautiful, and talented mother, sister, and aunt. Thanks for the memories. You will be forever missed!
