Donna Roscio age 85, died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 29,2021.
Born on July 12, 1936 in Durango, Colorado to the late Joseph and Ermina Roscio.
Donna graduated from Telluride High School in Telluride, Colorado in 1955 where she was lead majorette and baton twirler.
She was employed for 20 yeàrs at Coors Porcelain as an inspector and at Dixsons in the gauge department.
She attended church at Bethel Assembly of God when she was able and took great comfort in God's word.
Donna had many interests including painting, board games, songs from the 50s and 60s, dancing and working the levers on the Las Vegas slot machines!
She was outgoing, friendly, a very hard worker and never failed to help those who needed it. She took great pains to always look her best and was known as a "snappy dresser."
Donna was preceded in deàth by parents Ermina and Joseph Roscio, her dàughter Pamela Lucero, her brother Charles Codner and her husband Warren Wright.
Donna is survived by her children Grady (Jodie) Wright, Donàld Smith, Bryce(Danny) Raff, Karen Slàughenhoupt and her partner Joe Gerenke, 11 grandchildren and 21 greàt grand children.
She also is survived by six stepchildren that she dearly loved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bethel Assembly of God 2945 Orchard Ave. Grand Junction, CO at 11:00am on August 14th.
Growing up she spent her summers in Dunton Colorado with her father enjoying horseback riding, mushroom hunting and swimming in the hot spring pool
In Telluride she was one of three children that rode the ore tram car from the Tom Boy mine to school each day. These children were known as the "Tram Babies".
As a high schooler she began working for the Pekkarine family in Telluride. She enjoyed working for Eino and his aunt Aino at their store on Main Street. She had many interesting stories to tell about her time there.
While working at the Sheridan Hotel she interacted with some of Hollywood's brightest stars and was even asked to be a stand in for Elizabeth Taylor.
Donna was a host for several French exchange students and enjoyed their company very much.
Donna had an adventurous entrepreneurial spirit and a determined willingness to follow her dreams in various business ventures with the love of her life Warren Wright. They opened Donna's Cafe in Telluride, a second hand store in Grand Junction, built a country store in Dunton,and were involved in various mining ventures.
Donna's zeal for life was best described by the sheriff in Telluride one afternoon as she gave him a ride into town after his car had broken down. She will be forever known as "HOT ROD DONNA".
