Doris Hogarth

September 16, 1928 — July 19, 2019

On July 19, 2019, Doris Hogarth passed away at the age of 90 at the HopeWest Hospice Care Center of Grand Junction.

Doris was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Gertrude and August Hultquist.  She married Edward Hogarth in 1955 at Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska and later had 2 children, Paul and Lisa.

Doris worked at the Quaker Oats factory from 1948 to 1953.  From 1954 - 57 she worked at the Ladd Air Force Base in Fairbanks, Alaska as a Property & Supply Clerk, being later promoted to Clerk-Typist.  After moving to Anchorage, Alaska, Doris worked at the Anchorage School District as a Senior Secretary until her retirement in 1987.

Doris was a talented seamstress, winning a Grand Championship Award at the Tanana Valley Fair for a white leather coat she had created.  She also dabbled in weaving, quilting, and watercolors.  She enjoyed opera and always attended the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra concerts every year.  She loved watching baseball, almost never missing a Colorado Rockies game, and could play a mean hand of pinochle.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, her brother Stan, and 3 sisters, Hazel, Helen and Jeannette.  She is survived by her son Paul, her daughter Lisa (Gary), 3 grandchildren - Caitlin (Chance), Samantha, and Neil (Linzi), 6 great-grandchildren - Ella, Kinlee, Ledger, Parker, Peyton and Zachary, and many loved nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank those that came to say goodbye,  the wonderful staff of the Fountains of Hilltop, and the ever-amazing flow of HopeWest/ Hospice nurses, counselors, staff and clergy.  There will be no services.  Doris wished only to be with the love of her life at the end of hers.  She wished to have her ashes at her husband's grave, along with a packet of California Poppy seeds, his favorite flower.

In lieu of flowers, please send any donations you would like, to HopeWest of Colorado.  You can find information at https://www.hopewestco.org/donate/

Services have been entrusted to Brown's Cremation and Funeral Services.
