Doris Liddicoat

March 30, 1931 — March 24, 2016

Doris Faye Liddicoat, March 30, 1931 - March 24, 2016 Doris Faye Liddicoat lived a beautiful and rich life. She was loved by everyone she met. She started her life at a hotel in California then later moved to Texas with her twin sister Dot and Mother Ruby and Father George. Doris and Dot did everything together, from feeding the chickens and animals, to eating peanuts on peanut hay in the barn, to working at the drugstore, to playing basketball in school & singing duets in the Church choir. Their life was full of joy and hard work. After High School, Doris went to Texas Wesleyan College and majored in Physical Education. Her dream was to become a PE Teacher, but then she caught the eye of Walter Liddicoat. They had a whirlwind romance and married on October 5th 1951. On their special day, they looked like a movie star couple, surrounded by the music of Englebert Humperdinck. Walt wore a pink tie and Doris wore a teal dress. Never one to conform, Doris was always into fashion and cosmetology. They had two sons Rick and Rusty, and moved from Texas to Colorado. Doris later worked at Fashion Bar and was published in a newspaper article called  “The Women Of Bali” as FB’s personal fitter. Her customers were loyal and the community adored her. Famous for her Applesauce Cake, her doll head collection and her love of clowns, Doris was the glue that brought people together. She loved sports, and was a loyal fan of Andre Agassi for 20 years. She never missed any of his tennis matchs, although Football was her favorite! She was overjoyed at the Broncos Super Bowl win, and she even bet on them! She loved to read romance novels and watch tv, especially award shows. She always knew the latest celebrity gossip and political highlights, which she would love to share with anyone who wanted to talk. Talking to friends and family was her favorite pass time. Her go-to topics were God, Country and Prayer. Her favorite vacation spot was Vegas where she’d spend hours at the nickel slots with her twin sister, drinking Margaritas. A perfect evening with Doris would be spent with golden oldies playing in the background, a house full of family talking over chicken fried steak, drinking Dr. Pepper, and finishing up with a Little Debbie or a sliver of something sweet. As a cancer survivor of 20 years and a ray of sunshine, she showed all of us how to fight and have Faith. She always saw good in people, and wanted the best for everyone. She was an ear to hear, and a heart to love. She was a Mother, a Grandmother, a Great-Grandmother & a Crafter (she never let anything go to waste)! Her generosity and creative gifts will live on for generations. She made everyone she knew feel special, listening was her gift. When the time came, Doris passed away peacefully & gracefully in the company of her family at Community Hospital. She is survived by her children, Rick Liddicoat (Kathy) & Rusty Liddicoat (Susie). Her niece Debbie Weber & nephew Michael Dalesio. Her grandchildren Shawn Liddicoat (Dani), Kelli Wright (Josh), Cole Liddicoat (Katrina), Tara Barley (Lance), & Chase Liddicoat (Cami Ahrens). Her great nieces and nephews, Andi Woodright (Nathan), Ali Weber, Shiloh Dalesio-Anderson, and Mikala Dalesio. Her great grand children Jaxyn, Asher, & Jasper Liddicoat. She is preceded in death by her parents George Zellers & Ruby Pond Zellers, her twin sister Dorothy Maye Dalesio, & Walter Liddicoat. Her smile lives on with all of us, as her words "A smile is a curved line that sets things straight!" echo in our hearts.
