Doug entered this world on September 4, 1950 in Denver, CO. He was at the time of his birth considered a miracle medical baby as he was the first live birth survivor to a paralyzed woman. He was first raised by his paternal grandparents Emory and Jessie Simpson of Paonia, CO. He was later adopted and raised by Edwin W. Balderston and his mother Geniveve. He met and married the love of his life Pamela (Shipman). They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 7, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Geniveve, father Carl Simpson, his eldest son Erik, in laws Ralph and Eileen Shipman, sister Betty. He is survived by his wife, son Brian (Lindsey), daughter Amber (Calvin), Six granddaughters, Rachelle (Chase), Miranda (Ayele), Taylor (Alan), Jordyn, Mattesyn and Carley. He also has 8 great grandchildren. His brother in law Allen Shipman. His interests were watching westerns, football, hunting, and fishing. He served in the US Army 6 years including 2 tours in Vietnam with the 8th Engineer Battalion 1st Calvary CO (C) and 501 Engineer Brigade. Services will be announced at a later date.
