Matt Dalton

November 25, 1962 — September 29, 2024

Earl Matthew Dalton, affectionately known as Matt, was born on November 25, 1962, in the beautiful state of Colorado. He departed this life on September 29, 2024, in Grand Junction, Colorado, after a long battle with health issues. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, kindness, and laughter that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Matt was a proud graduate of Grand Junction High School, where he formed friendships and excelled in athletics. A true Tiger at heart, he competed in track, holding the record for the 100-yard dash, and also demonstrated his athletic talent through wrestling and football. His time at school shaped him into the hardworking, good-natured man that everyone knew and loved.

For 35 years, Matt dedicated himself to the construction industry, where he was recognized as a highly skilled heavy equipment operator. Many have driven upon the roads he helped pave, a testament to his talent and hard work. After his time in construction, he embraced a new role as a package delivery driver for FedEx, working alongside his beloved wife, CeeAnn. This partnership not only showcased his reliability as a worker but also highlighted the beautiful relationship he nurtured with his wife.

Outside of work, Matt had a zest for life that was contagious. He had a love for the great outdoors, often spending his time hunting and fishing amidst the mountains surrounding us that he grew up exploring. A true prankster at heart, he often entertained those around him with playful tricks, such as offering spicy treats disguised as candy. His witty humor and good-natured spirit touched many lives, leaving behind joyful memories that will forever resonate with friends and family.

Matt’s family, who were central to his world, include his cherished wife, CeeAnn Dalton; son Earl Dean Dalton and daughter-in-law Catrina Dalton; grandchildren Ella Kay, Ryan, and Keygeen; daughter Maggie Schuller and son-in-law Mark Schuller; and brother Bart Dalton. He is also survived by his father, Earl Pat Dalton; mother, Carol Ann Brown; stepfather Russ Brown; and aunt Vonda Williams and uncle Dennis Dalton. Matt's warmth and charisma created a bond that will continue to unite these loved ones, even in his absence.

He joins the ranks of his dearly departed family members, including his paternal grandparents R. Pat and Alice Dalton, maternal grandfather Johnny Peck, and maternal grandparents Dorthey and Dutch Bagley. Together, they watch over those left behind, encouraging them to celebrate the profound impact Matt had on their lives.

As we come together to honor his memory, a memorial service will be held on October 5, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Brown's Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel in Grand Junction, Colorado. Friends and family are welcome to gather and share stories, recalling the laughter and light Matt brought to our lives. There will be a gathering at the Duck Pond Park in Orchard Mesa afterwards where we are throwing Matt a Taco Party!

Earl Matthew Dalton; a proud Son, Father, Grandfather, Husband, and the Best Friend that you could ever ask for, will be greatly missed, but his spirit will live on through the countless memories he created and the lives he touched. As we remember Matt, let us rejoice in the legacy of love, joy, and camaraderie he leaves behind.
