Obituary for Earl Wayne Williams

Earl Wayne Williams, age 65, died August 25, 2017 following a long battle with cancer.

Born August 6, 1952, in Durango, Colorado, he was the son of the late Glen E. Williams and Barbara Anne Williams.

Earl graduated from Colorado Mesa University and liked to say he was full of BS in Biology. He went on to hold positions as a Biologist with Utah Division of Natural Resources and with Colorado Division of Wildlife. Earl was dedicated to promoting peace in the world and held a lifelong passion for sustainable environmentalism and conservation. He enjoyed an expertise in many things “outdoors” such as fly fishing, mountaineering, birding, camping and teaching others responsible outdoor skills.

Earl was also a passionate musician who played keyboards and sang with Hilliard Stills and with his wife in Amp Tramp.

Earl held memberships in Sierra Club, Colorado Mountain Club, Trout Unlimited and served many years as Head Elder in the Palisade Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Earl had a keen sense of humor and loved to make people laugh, perhaps earning him the nickname, Squirrel, in high school.

Earl is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ivy Williams, son Oren Williams (Sarah), daughter Contessa McCurry (Brandon), four grandsons, sister Elizabeth Kimball (Chris) and his faithful canine Cooper.

A memorial service will be held  on October 1, 2017 at 11:30 AM Eagle Rim Park  2746 Cheyenne Drive Grand Junction, CO 81503 (East Shelter)
