Eddie James Martin passed away peacefully on November 8, 2020 in Grand Junction, Colorado at the age of 81. He was born on February 1, 1939 in Mt. Harris, Colorado to James and Jane Martin. He was the middle of three kids. He married his wife Carol on March 25, 1957.
Eddie grew up in Mt. Harris and graduated North High School in Denver in 1957, where he played football. Eddie and Carol moved to Steamboat Springs, Colorado in 1957 and shortly after welcomed their son, Larry.
Eddie's ten years with Safeway brought him and his family to Gunnison, Colorado in 1960. After working for Safeway, Eddie started his own business in the Gunnison Valley. Eddie served the community in many ways, including eight years on the Sherriff’s and thirty-two years on the Fire Department where he severed as the assistant chief. Eddie’s business, Martins Plumbing and Heating, was also an active part of the community, sponsoring a softball team and 4-H awards for over ten years.
Eddie enjoyed spending time in the outdoors with his wife and family hunting and fishing. He was a collector of many things in his life. He was a kind man who loved to make people laugh. Everyone who met Eddie, enjoyed his stories and his warm heart.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents James and Jane, youngest sister Joanne, son Larry and granddaughter Jaclyn. He is survived by his wife Carol, sister Bonnie (Willie), daughter in-law Jana, Granddaughter Shellie (Randy).
