Our sweet Ellie went to see Jesus on November 8, at St. Mary’s Hospital, with her husband Steve, daughter Sarah, and brother Bill Clary, by her side. She had heart surgery on September 20 and never fully recovered.
Ellie was born Elta Geraldine Clary, on April 27, 1950. in Grand Junction, to John Clary and Dolores (Pick) Clary. A brother Bill joined the family six years later. Ellie graduated from Grand Junction High School, then earned degrees from Mesa College (now CMU) and Intermountain Bible College (IBC).
Ellie met Steve Morris when they were both students at IBC. They married on August 12, 1972, and honeymooned on Grand Mesa in the rain. They lived in Fruita for 24 years, moving to Grand Junction in 2003. They adopted two children, Dan in 1980, and Sarah in 1986.
Ellie worked at the Gr. Jct. Regional Center from 1973 to 2005. Her clients loved her, and she loved her job.
Ellie loved her husband, their children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, with Jan Karon a favorite author. She loved music, especially the music of the church and the “old musicals”. She liked walking, the changing seasons, drives over the Grand Mesa, and vacations to the Oregon coast.
A Celebration of Ellie’s life will be held on Dec. 4, 11:00 am, at the Clifton Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or online at www.stjude.org).
