Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
Revelation 3:20
Ernest Nick Gallegos (son of Abel and Mary Gallegos) also known as Father, Dad, Ernest, Uncle Ernie, Grandpa and Mr. G, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on September 15, 2022.
Colorado native, born May 24th, 1940; his age always referred to as “just a number”, was always positive and adamant about his simple life. With many health concerns in his later years; Ernest somehow, someway persevered to share that smile for many to observe another day. His smile was one to admire. “Father” was always kind willed with generosity, thoughtfulness and would give the shirt off his back, if asked. He never frowned on anyone’s shortcomings and was the last to comment on one’s mistake. “DAD” loved his simple nostalgic treasures being a big kid at heart. “Ernest” would always be quick to challenge you when he thought he was in the right - he loved to rebuttal the simplest things of life and was notorious for having the last word. “Grandpa” always had something in hand for the kids when they would visit. He gave simple advice for the kids going even if redundancy was common. “Uncle Ernie” had that quick visit syndrome with a hello and good bye, literally that fast! Cool, calm, and reserved perfectly describes his demeanor and personality. “Mr.G”, as the childhood friends would address him, admired his stern, reasonable and advisory demeanor.
Ernest Gallegos is survived by one brother (Larry), Sister (Theresa), six children: David, Tony, AnnaMaria, Frances, Frank and Daniel, many nephews, nieces, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceded in death by both parents (Abel and Mary, one sister (Ermalinda) and two brothers (Patrick and Manuel).
