Errol Snider

February 28, 1980 — September 8, 2016

Errol “JR” Snider Jr. February 28, 1980 –September 8, 2016 Errol Emerson Snider Jr., known to many as JR, passed away on September 8, 2016 at St. Mary’s hospital surrounded by family in Grand Junction, CO from Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy. He was 36. JR was the first born to Errol Emerson and Sandie Jean Snider on February 28, 1980. His family moved to Canon City when he was six, and returned to Grand Junction when he was ten, where he remained for the majority of his life. He attended Palisade High School. He accepted Christ as his savior and was baptized at Northeast Christian Church when he was 13. As a youth JR loved sports: playing soccer, football, and baseball. He loved the WWF and was able to convince his parents to buy many pay-per-views of Wrestle-Mania. He also became a faithful JUCO fan and since the age of ten, only missed one JUCO season. He was proud of kicking the first field goal ever in a MCJFA Lightweight Super Bowl. He continued kicking field goals into his thirties. As an adult, he played hockey and softball. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan but converted to the Colorado Rockies and watched or listened to over sixty games a year. He was known to tweet Drew Goodman of Root Sports and just this past May, Drew called him and they talked about JUCO at length. JR spent the bulk of his working career in the lumber business. His life’s journey brought him to Craig where he met his “queen” Michele Bell. JR said on more than one occasion that she was the female version of himself. He felt understood and loved completely. His legacy is his four children whom he loved deeply and his struggle which in the end united the entire family. JR was preceded in death by both grandmothers, Bonnie Walt and Erda Snider. He is survived by both grandfathers, Richard Walt Sr. of Grand Junction, and Emerson “E.G.” Snider of Albuquerque; his soul-mate Michele Bell, her son Brody Mock, and their children Sophia and Errol Snider III of Craig; his ex-wife Audra Snider and their children Pheobe and Kaia Snider of Grand Junction; his mother, Sandie (Rod) Hall of Canon City; his father, Errol (Michele) Snider Sr., of Grand Junction; his sisters Lori (Ted) Sorenson of Castle Rock, Nadara (Joe) Dauk of Loveland, Jessinda (Lucas) Howard of Grand Junction, and Camie and Marlee Hall of Canon City; as well as two step sisters, a step brother, and aunts and uncles, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A memorial service will be held in the hospitality suite at Suplizio Field on Sunday, October 9th at 2:05pm. Rockies or JUCO attire encouraged. Contributions to benefit his children may be made to the Errol Snider Jr. Children’s Memorial at Western Rockies Federal Credit Union, 2302 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501.
