Frances Gail Fraser

December 25, 1934 — January 18, 2024

Delta resident Frances “Gail” Fraser passed away on January 18, 2024, at her daughter’s home in Grand Junction. Mrs. Fraser was 89 years of age. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at a later date.

Gail was born on Christmas day 1934, to Fred William “Fritz” Gallob and Katherine Rose (Mihelich) Gallob in the small mining community of Bowie, Colorado. Gail spent her childhood on the family farm and attended school in Bowie. She was a lifelong resident of Delta and Delta County.

Gail met the love of her life Donald Eugene Fraser at a dance in the North Fork Valley and the two were married on December 2, 1950, in Paonia at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church not long before Don deployed to Korea with the US Army. Gail and Don were almost inseparable after his return, and they had been married 69 years when Don passed. While Don was deployed Gail spent time with her brothers and sisters as well as her new Fraser brothers and sisters that created a lifelong bond. Gail enjoyed being a homemaker and mother to more than just her three children.

Cooking and feeding family and friends seemed to bring her great joy. Since her home was located next to the family shops and equipment yard the house was a hub of activity. Growing up, there seemed to be visitors every day when we weren’t in the hills. “Coffee break” during the winter months and then into retirement, meant a gathering time to catch up over a cup of coffee and have a snack that Mom had baked on most days. Holidays and Sunday dinners were a big deal to Gail, and she delighted in being surrounded by family. Her greatest love was her husband, children extended family and especially the grandchildren.

Gail is survived by one daughter, Gaye and Doug Miller of Grand Junction; two sons, Tim and Lynette Fraser, Jim and Tammy Fraser, both of Delta; Nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; a niece and nephew who lived with the Frasers in their youth; Cathy (Mike) Folkerth of Tucson, AZ and Gary (Melissa) Lemon of Crawford; a niece Debbie (Julian) Timbreza who holds a special place in the family; a sister Kay McCall of Grand Junction; her Fraser brothers and sisters; Peggy Dickerson of Pea Green, Shirley Kunkle of Redondo Beach CA, Charles Fraser, Ralph and Merna Fraser of Delta. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gail was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, granddaughter Sarah Miller, a sister Mary Ann and her husband Paul Schofield, brothers; Joe and his wife Marlyn Gallob, Frank Gallob, Bill and his wife Vera Gallob; Allie and Opha Fraser, Cleo Fraser, Gary Dickerson, Frances and her husband Bob Price, brother-in-law Phil Kunkle. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Fraser’s name be made to HopeWest, 3090 N.12th Street, Grand Junction, CO, 81506
