George Hibbert

November 18, 1954 — July 12, 2022

George Milton Hibbert

George was born to Jeannine (Jackson) Hibbert & Glen Alfred Hibbert on November 18, 1954, in Uravan, CO.

George grew up mostly (haha) in Nucla. He graduated from Nucla High School in 1973 & married Nannnette Moore on July 1, 1977 they resided in Nucla & Uravan. Together they raised 3 sons: Jason, Christopher & Brian.

George was always involved with the 4-H program and was always willing to lend a hand whenever needed during weigh-in and other duties of the fair. He served on the San Miguel Basin Fair Board for many years. George was also a hunting guide for many years. Along with his friend Scott Dillion, they ran a very exciting and successful business guiding hunters for around 20 years. George was always happiest adventuring outdoors fishing, hunting, guiding or working with his horses and cows. He took great pleasure in helping neighbors & friends.

He was always ready with a joke that could lighten a moment. With his wrap around hugs that could last forever, a charming smile and a laugh that warmed your heart, he never met anyone he couldn’t make a friend. We all need to find that “ambition to be lazy” more often.

George is survived by his  wife Nannette Hibbert of Nucla CO, sister Peggy Kohl of Nucla CO, son’s Jason (Elizabeth) of Pagosa Springs CO, Chris (Laura) of Colorado Springs CO, Brian (Tori) of Delta CO, his aunt Joan Morse of Glenwood Springs CO, grandkids Alia, Kaydence, (Kelsi, Bailee) Wesley, Baby Boy Hibbert, Zach (Liz), Jayden, Lainey (Mason), Blake, Hailey (Half Pint)(Cory) Kaybree, Ruger, (Mariah, Tyrael) and great grandchildren Violet, Elliot.

PS to all the grandkids, you better behave or Papa George may need to hang you upside down & shake all the change out of your pockets!

“Sure glad you got to see me.”
