Glenn Wallace Walker, 78 of Grand Junction, Colorado went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 19, 2016. He was a member and attended church throughout his life. He met and married his wife, Ruth Ann Mash, who survives. They met at a singles group pig roast and Square Dance in Magna Carta Park through Cherry Hills Community Church in Denver and were married in South Bend, Indiana on April 21, 1990. They lived in Denver until retiring and then moved to the Grand Valley in 1999 - first to Battlement Mesa and then to Grand Junction in 2004. They were "Snowbirds" and spent winters in Mesa, Arizona. Born on November 24, 1937 in Torrington, Wyoming, Glenn was the son of Wallace F. Walker and Marie Brewer Walker, who preceded him in death. His brother, Stanley Walker of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania preceded him in death. Glenn had a happy, carefree childhood growing up. While attending high school and college, Glenn worked summers with his grandfather Brewer and Uncle Gene Brewer, who were bricklayers. He developed an excellent work ethic and also enjoyed the work. His favorite duties on the job were tuning into the "baseball game of the day" on the homemade radio and drinking pepsi-cola and going to buy the "powdered donuts!" His primary responsibility in the plastering work after the scratch coat and waving walls was to apply the finishing coat work. His Grandfather often commented that he didn't know who would ever hire him because he was so particular and careful that no one would be able to afford him. So Glenn chose a career as an Electrical Engineer and earned a degree from the University of Wyoming. Glenn was employed by General Electric and retired as a Senior Field Engineer with 34 years of service. He worked on the Polaris Missile Shore Support in Huntsville, Alabama and Flight Controls in Schenectady, New York. After retiring from GE, Glenn was employed by E-Squared Power Systems for three years. He worked on projects in the United States as well as Aruba, Malaysia and St. Croix, Virgin Islands and third world country, Suriname. Glenn served on four Homeowners association Boards through the years. he met so many wonderful new friends through Grace Bible Church while living in Battlement Mesa and enjoyed the fellowship and many activities. He helped with various projects of the Christin Womens Connection from preparing and serving at luncheons to making signs for the 4th of July Parade in Grand Junction. While living in Battlement Mesa, Glenn was a frequent contributor as an independent voice in the Glenwood Springs newspaper. He had a great interest in political and local issues and supported many community events. Glenn loved riding his bicycle. He also loved attending the JUCO tournament games. Glenn is a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association and has completed various safety classes. He is also a member of the Heritage Foundation. He married Marilyn Moreland, who preceded him in death. Their son, Scott Moreland Walker (Bonnianne Corbett) survives. Their children, Ashley Marie, Rhiannen Cecelia, Whitney Scott, Declan Riley and Marley Kyle also survive. Services are scheduled for August 29, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Brown's Chapel, 904 N 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81501.
