Harold Ellis Dollar, age 86, died on April 9, 2025, in his home in Grand Junction, CO. Born to JZ and Mary (DeVore) Dollar near Walnut, MS. Started his careers with the 3-C’s “Cotton, corn, and cows” at 5 years old. Graduated Walnut High School, MS. Enrolled in the USAF. Stationed in Greece and Japan.
In Japan, he decided to follow Jesus. Joined the Navigators. Went to Columbia Bible College. Met Sharon Weber in Brownsville, OH. Married June 21, 1968. Went to Grace Theological Seminary.
Joined World Team Missions for 9 years (sent to Trinidad & Tobago and Haiti).
Between Trinidad and Haiti, he started his Doctor of Missiology degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. Completed his Ph.D. at Fuller after he left the mission field.
Became an Intercultural Studies professor at BIOLA University (1983-2003).
Retired 2003 in Grand Junction, CO.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon (Weber) Dollar, two sons (Stacy and Shawn), siblings (JW, Sonya (Joyner), Joann (Wilbanks), Larry “Doc”), 8 grandkids, and 1 great-grandkid. Preceded in death by his older brother, Solon, and younger sister, Beth.
He enjoyed travel (5 continents), reading, golf, and his grandchildren.
