Much beloved Friend, Son, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Educator and Renaissance Man. Harry Easton passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 71 on October 18, 2018, in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was born in Minot, North Dakota to Elwin and Arlene Easton on August 1, 1947. His youth was marked by a self-described Beaver Cleaver childhood with hockey on the lake, basketball with friends and the Boy Scouts of America where his father made his career and Harry earned his Eagle Scout. He graduated from Wayzata High School in Wayzata MN in 1964 and attended Bemidji State University where he taught himself to play the guitar, met and married Kathaleen Williams, and had his first child, Patricia Easton. He moved his family to St Cloud, MN after graduation, where they welcomed another daughter, Kenlyn Easton, and where he started his career as a teacher. Harry and Kathy moved to Grand Junction, CO with their two daughters in August 1973 where he lived for the remainder of his life. Harry met and married his lifetime companion of 32 years, Rhonda Easton, in 1986 and the two raised Justin Kolenc together. Harry’s passion for supporting kids and educators transcends his life; raising two educators and supporting hundreds more as a principal and an adjunct professor. Harry led his life his way and enjoyed a full and enriching experience outside of the schoolhouse. He was a guitar player and composer, a practicing luthier, an avid golfer, an outdoorsman and hunter, and a skilled woodworker. He used his time in the summer to rejuvenate by riding his motorcycle and playing golf in every state in the United States, visiting his family, and sharing his adventures with them. Harry will be missed but never forgotten by his wife, Rhonda, Beloved Mother, Arlene, Sisters Beverly Labraatan (Dick) and Pauline Spilseth (Don), daughters Patti and Kenlyn and their husbands Larry Skelly and Chris Newman, son Justin Kolenc and his wife Carolyn, and his grandchildren: Sierra, Alex, Kelsey, Jaxon, Emily, Payton and Hunter. He was preceded in death by his father, Elwin. Services will be held at Brown’s Cremation and Funeral Service, 904 N 7th Street, Grand Junction, CO on October 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with an open house celebration of life reception following the service at The Club at Redlands Mesa, 2325 West Ridges Boulevard from 3:30 to 5:30.
