Howard Edward Boland, 89, of Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away on March 6, 2024.
A lover of the outdoors, mountains, and flowers, Howard was a proud Air Force Veteran. His eyes would light up when his family was around, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Howard had a green thumb and spent his days tending to his plants and creating unique floral arrangements. He loved telling stories about his childhood in Texas, his time in Morocco with the US Air Force, and his various travels.
Howard is survived by his brother Ronald Boland, son Raymond Boland, daughters Michelle (Dale) Duesterbeck, and Valerie (Eric) Lowe, Melissa (Chuck) Blankenship, as well as several grand children (Kelly, Holly, Amy, Tyler, Jared, Johnathan, Benjamin, Hannah, Gabrielle, Abel) and great-grandchildren (Nevaeh, Colleen, DeonnaRay, William, Izeya, Suzanne, Mary, Ayden). He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Vernie, brother Charlie, wife Karen, son Thomas, and son-in-law Kent Coker.
During his military service in the USAF from 1956 to 1960, Howard dedicated himself to serving his country. Howard married the love of his life Karen on October 25th 1962. Howard and Karen raised four children. They were inseparable until Karen's passing in 2017. Howard remained dedicated to Karen until his passing.
Howard's hobbies included gardening, flowers, walks in nature, and exploring the sights, sounds, and cultures of tropical countries. A lifelong devout Christian he worshipped at various churches throughout his life including New Life Assembly of God, Church on the Rock, Sonrise Church of God, First Assembly of God, and Crosspoint Church.
A service to honor Howard's life will be held on Thursday March 14th at 3:00pm at Canyonview Vinyard Chapel. Brown's Funeral Home on Grand Junction, CO is assisting with the arrangements.
