Howard Cowan

It is with great sadness that the family of Howard (Hal) Dean Cowan announce his sudden passing in Grand Junction, Colorado on Saturday, December 7th, 2019 at the age of 89.  Howard was born in Tatum, Tx on February 3rd, 1930 to Earnest and Mittie Louise Cowan. Howard grew up in Tatum, Tx with 10 siblings. He was a beloved brother, uncle, husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa (papa).

He is pre-deceased by his first wife Helen Cowan of 43 years together and 3 siblings. Howard is survived by his second wife Dessi of 16 years, his children Debbie, Dan and Lisa, Don and Sharon, His 8 grandchildren Amanda, James, Juston, Rachelle, Ethan, Brandy, Holly and Dylan, 5 great-grandchildren Nevan, Riane, Tylor, Daxton, Koda. Howard did what he could to provide for his family through the years by building power lines all over the country. He rode in the rodeo bull riding and riding bucking broncos all over the USA and Canada. He was a stunt man and movie extra in numerous old western movies along-side Ronald Regan. He was a decorated army veteran and served 2 years during the Korean War.

Settling down in 1973 with Helen and his 3 children in Burns Lake B.C. Canada to work for BC Hydro until his retirement in 1982. After selling everything to live in an RV, he traveled between the USA and Canada with the love of his life. He settled in Grand Junction, Colorado for the last 14 years of his life with Dessi, close to his son Dan. Howard’s life was a precious gift and now his hard-working hands are at rest. Howard will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
