Ian Kent Staten passed away in Whitewater on January 2, 2022. He was born on January 4, 1972 to parents Mickey and Catherine Staten in Tucson, AZ. He attended school in Lakewood, CO graduating from McLain High School in January, 1992.
Ian joined the Navy after high school and served four years on the USS Kitty Hawk. He attended Intellitec college graduating in January of 2017 and worked as an auto mechanic. Ian loved the outdoors and spent many happy hours in the mountains with his dog Max. He climbed several of Colorado’s “fourteeners” and explored Arches and Canyonlands national parks. Ian was also very creative and enjoyed making native American jewelry, dreamcatchers, woodworking, and other items as well as creating medieval weaponry in the form of helmets and shields. He could often be found at Renaissance festivals and Highland Games selling swords and other weaponry.
He is survived by his parents Mickey and Catherine of Whitewater, sister Kimberly (Ron) Young, nephews Tyler (Danielle) Young and Wyatt Young of Golden, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be interred at Veterans Memorial Cemetery In Grand Junction Friday July 22, 2022 at 10 am and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 pm July 22, 2022 at 1 pm at Brown’s Funeral Home.
