Irene Deister

Irene Crown Deister 93, went to her heavenly home, surrounded by loved ones, at the Retreat in Palisade, Colorado, Tuesday, August 4th.  Irene was one of nine children, born to Solomon and Marie Crown in Agra Kansas, March 14, 1922.  Irene was a school teacher for thirty-three years in Kansas and California.  Irene married Clifford L. Deister on August 23, 1947.  They raised six children, three boys and three girls.

Irene is survived by husband Clifford Deister; by daughters Lynn Sparks (Rick) of Greenwood, Missouri; Kathy Spoering (Craig) of Grand Junction, Colorado; Julie Griffith Lees Summit, Missouri;   by sons Joel Deister (Angela) of Trabuco Canyon, California; Chris Deister (Linda) of Whitefish, Montana; by brothers Winton and Philip Crown of Kansas and Lee Crown of California; and by sister, Norma Reynolds of Kansas. Irene is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.

Irene is preceded in passing by her parents; by sisters Joyce Compton, Mildred King, Ila Loney and brother Joe Crown, and by her son Rickey Deister and grandson Clinton Sparks.

Irene was a lifetime servant of the Lord as a member of the Church of Christ.  A family graveside service will be held at Agra Memorial Cemetery, Saturday August 8th. Contributions in her name can be made to Hope West Hospice, 3090 North 12th Street, Grand Junction, CO 81506.
