Iris Louise Miller passed away in early morning October 14, 2019, at the Center at Foresight Rehabilitation Facility in Grand Junction, Colorado. Iris was 90 years old at the time of her death.
She was born Iris Louis Goad in Filbert, West Virginia on December 22, 1928, to Roy and Opal Goad. Iris grew up and attended school in southern West Virginia where she met and married John Garay in 1945. Their son and only child, Ronald was born in 1947. Iris and John’s marriage ended in divorce in 1952.
In 1958 Iris met and married Marcus Miller. Mark’s occupation as electrical engineer at coal mine preparation plants took the couple to Princeton, West Virginia and Washington, Pennsylvania and then in the 1960s brought them to Colorado. Iris and Mark lived in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, and Rifle before finally settling in Grand Junction in 1987. Mark passed away in 1995.
Iris is survived by her son Dr. Ronald Garay and his wife Dr. Mary Sue Garay of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and step son Marcus Miller and his wife Carrie of Sarasota, Florida.
