Isabell Cox

November 2, 1920 — June 7, 2021

Isabell Mary Cox passed away on June 7, 2021, at the age of 100.  Born November 2, 1920, in San Diego, CA, she was the daughter of the late John and Ernestine Jourdan.

She loved spending time with her family and friends and traveling every chance she got.  She was a very strong, hard-working, independent lady all of her life.  She welcomed all into her life with love and compassion.  She never met a stranger and was loved by all.

Isabell truly enjoyed caring for others.  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and always helped out when she could.  She always had kids around and instilled good in all of them just by being herself.

Isabell was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Ralph Hunsberger Sr. who was killed in WWII,  her husband Norris Elzie Cox, their son Leland Norris Cox, her step-daughter Joy Bird-Atkins, Granddaughter Susan Lampton, Grandson Carl Cox Jr, Grandson Dallas Ray, Grandson Cody Cox, Grandson Michael Olson and Grandson Michael Shannon., her sister Juanita Fisher and brothers; Raymond Jourdan, James Jourdan, Homer Jourdan, John Jourdan, Charles Jourdan, and Edward Jourdan, daughter-in-laws Barbara Hunsberger and Lanieve Cox.

Isabell is survived by her son's; Melvin Ralph Hunsberger Jr., Lewis Raymond Cox (Jeanne), Everett Wayne Cox (Beverly), David Lee Cox (Judy), Gary Cox (Kathy), Carl Alvin Cox, her daughter's; Kathryn Joanne Lampton (Dean), Venus Mae Lengyel (Carl), Lorie Ann Simonton (Don), daughter-in-law Rosa Cox, son-in-law Fred Atkins, her blended grandchildren includes 43 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, 30 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-granddaughter, her sisters; Marie Cox, Louise Howard, and Elouise Wiley.

A Graveside service will be held on August 14, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 40571 Cemetery Circle, Paonia, CO and a Celebration of Life gathering August 14, 2021  from 1:00 to 3:00PM at the VFW Post 1247, 1404 Ute Avenue, Grand Junction, CO.    We will be having a potluck-style lunch, so please bring your favorite dish to share.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to HopeWest Hospice, 3090 N 12th street #B, Grand Junction, CO 81506
