Jacqueline Delores Haidich

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jacqueline (Jackie) Delores Haidich, age 93, on January 6, 2025, following a brief illness. Born on July 3, 1931, in Oswego, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Vae Hattersley.

A true trailblazer for working mothers, Jackie balanced a successful career with the demands of raising three children. Starting as a bookkeeper at South Coast Fisheries, she later became a corporate secretary for Continental Companies, where she devoted 30 years of service. Jackie’s work ethic and determination set an example for those around her, especially in an era where balancing family and career was no small feat. Somehow, she managed to always be well-dressed, with her hair and nails done at "the beauty shop" religiously. A wonderful cook, she would come home after work and prepare sit-down family dinners each night, which was very important to her.

At her core, Jackie was a caretaker. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and the glue that held her family together. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her loved ones, and she was known for hosting family gatherings and lovingly decorating for the holidays. Jackie had a special fondness for animals, especially cats, and took great pleasure in helping homeless pets. She could often be found feeding the squirrels in her yard or watching the hummingbirds drink from her window feeder. Her generosity, kindness, and caring nature made her beloved by all who knew her.

Jackie was preceded in death by her devoted husband Joseph (Joe) Haidich, and her cherished son John Haidich. She is survived by her daughter Joanne and her grandchildren Jackie, Brock, and Brandon, who were the lights of her life.

Jackie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A memorial service will be held at St. Perpetua's Church, 3454 Hamlin Road in Lafayette, CA, on Saturday, January 18th. A celebration of life will follow at the home Jackie and Joe shared for many years, located at 4059 Fiora Place in Lafayette. Further details, including times, will be announced in the coming days.
