James Kalow

James “Jim” Donald Kalow

October 4, 1969 – April 9 2021

Jim was born October 4th, 1969 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was the son of the late Robert Allen Kalow and Justine “Jessie” Alice Sandels. Jim attended kindergarten in Granby, Colorado. Jim’s parents moved to Yampa, Colorado where he completed grades 1 through his junior year of high school, in Oak Creek, Colorado. His mother then moved to Grand Junction, Colorado where he completed his high school education at Central High School in 1988.

Jim enlisted into the Air Force right after high school graduation, accompanied by his Grandpa Pop. Jim spent 10 years in the United States Air Force where he served in the Air Tactical Command.  During this time Jim received the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, AF Commidation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and the AF Achievement Medal. Jim was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent E5 in 1998. Jim was a master electrician and owner of Spring Creek Electric, up to the present time. Jim’s passion was to be in the mountains fishing. His personality was quirky, lovable, humble and kind. At Jim’s expense he kept us always laughing.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Robert Allen Kalow, and a second son, Jacob Marc Kalow. Jim is survived by his son Zachary Stephen James Kalow; stepdaughters Jessica Elizabeth McGregor and Meghan Nicole McGregor; his mother Justine (Jessie) Kelley; stepdad Vernon Gary Kelley; Brother William (Bill) Roy Kalow; Stepbrothers Burt Gary Kelley and Eric V. Kelley; three aunts, Phyllis Jane (C.L.) Shanklin, Maryanne (Jim) Bowen, Nedra Nell Sandels; two uncles Donald Eugene Sandels Jr., William Earl (Sandy) Kelley; 11 cousins; five nieces; two nephews; and two great nephews.

Memorial services will be held at Canyon View Vineyard Chapel, 736 24 ½ Road, Grand Junction, Colorado 81505 on Saturday April 24. 2021  at 11:00am,  A memorial contribution may be made to Canyon View Vineyard Church in James D. Kalow’s name.
