James Mullis

April 1, 1929 — December 28, 2019

James (Jim) Errett Mullis, age 90, died at home, in his sleep on Saturday December 28, 2019.

Born April 1, 1929 in Littleton, Colorado, he was the son of the late Gail “Maggie” and Mary Ruth Mullis.

Jim graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, Colorado.  He was a veteran of the US Army, serving proudly in the 35th Quartermaster Mule Pack during World War II in Fort Carson, Colorado.

Jim was employed as a general contractor for the past 42 years in order to be home with his family in Grand Junction, Colorado. However, at heart, he loved being on the road as a long haul truck driver.

Jim was known for his love of family, kindness to others, and commitment to hard work. He was always available to lend a hand to those in need.  His sense of humor, quick wit and positive outlook were admired by all who knew him.  He was always a champion of the underdog and he chose to see the best in all.

Jim was preceded in death by both parents, one sister, one son and a grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Audrey, to whom he was totally devoted. Other survivors include a son, Clay (Marianne) Mullis; daughters, Kim and Lori Bang, and Niki Mullis; sister, Judy Howard of JC, Missouri.  Jim leaves behind 9 grandchildren, Chad (Leather) and Kyle Bang, Jesse Mullis, Kylie and Sydney Little, Haley (Max) White, Madison Assenmacher, Errett and Clayton Anderson, and two Great Granddaughters, Evangeline Bang and Joelle White.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making charitable donations in Jim’s name to Hope West, or a charity of your choice.
