James Whiteman

May 5, 1964 — October 31, 2020

James Russell Whiteman "Russ" was born and raised in Montrose, Colorado.  His Parents James and Frances Whiteman moved to Montrose in 1962.

May 5th 1964 Russ was born.  He attended school, participated in 4-H, Boy Scouts, Church and camping on the Grand Mesa with his family.

After moving to Grand Junction, Colorado, Russ graduated Central High School in 1982.  Soon after he started his career in the pet industry at J&M Aquatic. He enjoyed animals and especially his numerous fresh and salt water aquariums.

Russ met his future wife and best friend Debbie Oldham, while attending Mesa State College.  They both graduated with a degree in business in 1995, and soon after became engaged.

Russ and Debbie married January 11, 1997 and built their dream home together.  Enter "Harry" their fur baby and best dog ever.

“Uncle” Russ doted on his niece Lindsey Harr and nephews Kris, Sean and Patrick Washburn. He taught them how to be kind, loving people as well as his wicked sense of humor.

He had a close, loving relationship with his sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Donald Washburn.

His parents are so proud of the loving, strong man Russ became. Facing every adversity that came throughout his lifetime.

We as his family, celebrate 56 wonderful years God let him have here with us.

Russ’s family would also like to thank the Dialysis Team at DaVita for many years of wonderful care. You were his family away from home.

His family would also like to thank the ICU unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care and compassion you gave Russ and Debbie.
