Janet Louise Blackman

August 21, 1942 — April 10, 2025

In Loving Memory of Janet Louise Blackman Cox
August 21, 1942 – April 10, 2025With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life, we announce the passing of Janet Louise Blackman Cox, who entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Mantey Heights Rehabilitation and Care Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 82 years old.

Born on August 21, 1942, in Burley, Idaho, to Lloyd E. and Dorothy Cox, Janet lived a life rooted in service, compassion, and steadfast faith. A proud Registered Nurse by profession, she devoted her life to caring for others, both in her career and personal life.

Janet was a loving sister, dear friend, and cherished step-matriarch. She is survived by her devoted brothers, Joseph Cox of Grand Junction, CO, and Jimmy (Joyce) Cox of Puyallup, WA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Johnny Cox of Burley, ID.

In 1986, Janet married the love of her life, Gary F. Blackman, in Colorado Springs. Their union blended families and hearts. Gary preceded her in death in January 2012, but their bond remained a guiding light in her life. Janet is lovingly remembered by her six stepchildren: Connie Lee, Cori Miller, Jay Blackman, Cheri Chavez, Babs Carter, and the late Chris Healy, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.

A woman of deep faith, Janet was a respected member of the First Baptist Church on 7th & Grand Avenue in Grand Junction. She poured her energy into civic and community service through groups such as the American Baptist Women, Orchard Mesa Lions Club, Mesa County Republican Party, and the Colorado Federation of Republican Women, where she once served as president. Janet also participated in county neighborhood precinct work, always eager to give back and make a difference.

Interment will take place at Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 18th. The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Janet’s honor to HopeWest Hospice, whose care and compassion were a comfort in her final days.

Janet’s life was a testament to love, service, and strength. Though she has departed from this world, she is now in the arms of Our Lord, reunited with loved ones and at peace. Her memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew her.
