Janice Dee Zufelt Burrell June 4, 1950--February 23, 2022.
Janice was born in Rifle, Colorado to Ansel E. and Leah M. Zufelt as their only daughter. She is preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother, Jimmy Mazuchi. She is survived by her other brother, Elbert Lee Zufelt (Stephanie) who resides in Anutt, Missouri. Her two daughters Mara Visinaiz (Jim) of Galena, Missouri, and Lisa Huntzinger (Mark) of Thompson, Utah. Her three grandsons: Joshua Richardson, Derek Richardson (Cadie), Keith Quinn. Her five great-grandchildren: Kiera and Kamryn Quinn. Azura, Alea, and Rohan Richardson.
Janice lived with her family in Rifle and several other places in Colorado. Including West Elk, Kremmling, Antlers, and Silt. The family resided there in Silt on Grandpa Mazuchi’s farm until they moved to Moab, Utah in 1956. Where Janice attended all twelve years of school. She lived for a while in Pensacola, Florida, near her brother, Lee, then moved back to Moab when Lee received Navy orders.
She was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to all her family. A treasured friend by all those who knew her. She trusted Jesus as her personal Savior and this was shown in her love for people and her family. She worked many jobs in Moab, a few included clerk at Greenwell motel, Walker Drug Store, IGA, and bank teller. She went back and earned her CNA license and worked in Grand Junction, Colorado, and Moab, Utah. She spent many years as a professional caregiver to those less fortunate as well as nursing both of her parents until they passed.
She raised her children to be good citizens and she had good things to say about everybody. Janice was also somewhat of an adventuress. In her youth, she enjoyed hiking, camping, hunting in the hills, and drag racing fast cars. When she started to have health issues she stayed with family and grew deep ties to her great-grandchildren, who fondly called her GG and fiercely loved her. She eventually moved into Rockridge Senior Apartments in Moab Utah. She enjoyed watching her movie collections, taking rides up the river, and eating out with family. She was also a grand storyteller, spending many hours with her children and their friends, keeping them fascinated, spellbound, and excited. She is sorely missed. A celebration of life will be held on June 4, 2022, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at Rotary Park in Moab, Utah.
