Janice Daily

Janice L. Daily (Jan) passed away Thursday, October 6th at HopeWest Hospice Care Center in Grand Junction. She was born September 25, 1944, to Edward R. Kerr and Betty L. (Stevens) Kerr in Chico, CA. Jan spent her childhood and teen years in Napa, CA, and attended Chico State University where she received her B.A. in English. She met her husband, Galen L. Daily, in college. Jan and Galen were married August 21, 1966. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 21 of this year, and their marriage has been a model and an inspiration for their children, grandchildren, and many others. Jan had a lifelong passion for education; in fact, she began "teaching" her dolls at the age of 5. She lived out that passion throughout her career as a schoolteacher. For nearly 40 years, she taught in public and private Christian schools in California, Alaska, and Colorado. Jan and Galen moved to Grand Junction in 2002, where they pastored Extended Arms Foursquare Church for six years. An active member of her church family at Canyon View Vineyard Church since 2008, Jan was passionately committed to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She loved to lead Bible studies, serve as a mentor and adoptive mother to younger women, and care for those in need through her work at the Salvation Army. She is preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Betty Kerr, her sister Deborah, and her brother Stephen. She is survived by her husband Galen, her children Brandon and Jennifer, 11 grandchildren, and a tremendous community of close friends who praise God for her influence in their lives. A celebration of her life will be held at the Chapel, Canyon View Vineyard Church, Grand Junction, on Saturday, October 22, at 10:00AM. Please let your friends know you have seen this announcement.
