Janice Carol Hendricks

March 15, 1940 — April 2, 2025

In Loving Memory of Janice Hendricks
March 15, 1940 - April 2, 2025Janice Hendricks, a woman full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to her family, passed away on April 2, 2025, surrounded by those who cherished her. She was 85 years old.

Born March 15, 1940, in Lamar, Colorado, Janice was the beloved daughter of Carl Leon Pierson and Lavina “Urso” McMichael Pierson. She was later blessed with a younger brother, Rex Pierson, whom she loved dearly and shared a close bond with all her life.

On June 4, 1960, Janice married the love of her life, John Charles Hendricks. Together, they spent nearly 65 wonderful years building a life full of remarkable memories. She often said how lucky she was that John loved her family as much as she did— and that love only grew deeper through the decades.

Their union brought into the world two wonderful, ornery boys who lit up Janice’s life with laughter and just the right amount of trouble: Jeffrey Carl Hendricks (Lisa) and John Edward Hendricks (Leslie). Janice never tired of telling stories of the mischief they got into over the years—always with a smile and a twinkle in her eye.

Her heart expanded even more with the arrival of her grandchildren, each one bringing their own joy and love: Kristen Barker (Danny), Cody Hendricks (Molly), Kacie Murphy (Shawn), Joshua Hendricks (Katie), and Janell Yancey (Joe).

And as if her heart wasn’t full enough, her great-grandchildren made sure to overflow it with joy: Jeffrey Barker, Nicholas Barker, Jacob Barker, Avery Harper, Carson Harper, Lucy Hendricks, Kane Murphy, Charli Murphy, Noah Hendricks, Zachary Hendricks, and Ezekiel Hendricks. Janice was absolutely thrilled when the next generation began to arrive as well, welcoming her great-great-granddaughter, Octavia, with open arms and a full heart.

Janice spent many years working as a cook for Mesa County School District 51, later retiring from the City Market Deli. No matter where she was, she brought warmth, humor, and kindness to everyone she met. She loved to laugh, and her joy was truly contagious.

But above all else, Janice’s greatest treasure was her family. She poured her heart into every moment she spent with them—sharing stories, hugs, and the kind of love that leaves a legacy.

Janice will be missed deeply by all who knew her, but her spirit lives on in the many lives she touched with her warmth, strength, and unwavering love.
