Jean Dolores Slaven

Jean D Slavens’ life was filled with love, warmth, and cherished memories. Born and raised in Grand Junction, Colorado, she went through the local school system graduating from Grand Junction High School in 1966. After high school she attended Mesa Junior College. On September 4, 1971, Jean wed Robert (Bob) L. Slaven in Loveland, CO. Their love story led them to various places in Colorado like Boulder, Aspen, and Carbondale. With a desire to move closer to their families, they found their way back to Grand Junction in 1976 with their first daughter Angela Marie celebrating her first birthday in their new home. They welcomed their second daughter Dánielle Nicole in 1977. Jean balanced working as a bookkeeper with raising their children and maintaining a loving home. In 2006 Jean and Bob joyfully welcomed their only grandchild, Braden Michael. Jean enjoyed helping raise Braden and adored spending time with him. After Bob retired in 1988, they enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling together. After Bob’s passing in 2020, Jean continued her travels, sharing adventures with her daughter Angela. Jean’s legacy of love and dedication lives on through her daughter’s Angela Slaven and Dánielle (Phil) Hindson; her grandson Braden Hindson; her sister Bonnie (Richard) Bradley; and her nephew Ryan Bradley. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Slaven, her parents George and Mildred Low, her nephew Brent Bradley and other beloved family members. A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, December 27th at 1 pm at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 2830 Riverside Parkway in Grand Junction. Friends and family are welcome to share their memories and condolences.
