Jeffrey J Havens
Born Dec 28 1961- July 12 2023
Jeff was a long time resident of Grand Junction Regional Center until he found his permanent home with Max and Sondra Hastings. “Dad” Steven Lampton became his guardian in 1994, then his family had become complete. He was a brother of mine in 2001. He became an uncle to Jacob, then in 2009 again in 2011 to Colton and Wyatt.
He was a good man. He made friends everywhere he went, but loved women the most.
Dad told me when he first met Jeff, he knew they were going to be friends and over the years their bond grew until dad’s last days.
There’s so many stories to tell about Jeff like the time some staff ordered pizza. The delivery man was scared to be there and staff told him not to be. So what does Jeff do? He chases him around the building. Jeff was biting his hand and had the poor man pinned in the corner.
Another time, I was at my graduation, and we had been told he had to leave at a certain time. Well, we were just getting ready to go when the alarm went off. Cops showed up and Jeff got a big kick out of that thinking Dad had to go to jail.
The last one is when Grandma Lampton was cooking chicken, Dad got after her to not eat all the chicken while making it, and Jeff DID NOT like that. Jeff got real close to dad and grunted as if to say she could eat all the chicken she wanted and there was nothing Dad could do about it.
Over the years, I’ve seen changes in him, and all of us as well for the better. Jeff loved food, the outside, trains and his soda pop. He wasn’t a hard man to please. He touched lives wherever he went.
Heaven has a new angel. He is the arms of our lord and savior. He is met with open arms by all that passed before him.
We love you, Jeff.
