Jerry William Hayden Jr.

Jerry ‘Shorty’ Hayden, age 65, passed away unexpectedly on July 31, 2024.

Born September 1, 1958, in Ukiah, CA to Jerry Hayden (deceased) and Rita Hayden (Grand Junction, CO) and was raised there until 1972 when the family moved to Las Vegas, NV where he graduated from high school. Then, in 1977 he moved to Grand Junction, CO with the family. He has lived in Grand Junction the past 47 years.

Shorty had been employed as a Master Concrete Finisher in the Concrete Construction Industry for over 40 years.

Shorty enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved fishing and has been deep sea fishing off the coast of the Baja in Mexico. He loved nature, eagles, and being outdoors. Frequently attending car shows, he even entered his classic Dodge Mirada a time or two.

Shorty was a dedicated, hard worker, and had great work ethics. He was very dedicated to his loved ones.

Shorty was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hayden, and his brother, Gary Hayden (in 2021).

Shorty is survived by his wife Cindy Hayden. A son, Jerry Hayden III of Grand Junction, CO. Daughters, Christine Fry of Olathe, CO, Tina Sonntag of Maricopa, AZ, and Amelia Hayden of Maricopa, AZ. His mother, Rita Hayden of Grand Junction, CO, sisters, Tammy Allen (Brau Garcia) of Grand Junction, CO, and Donna Green of Grand Junction, CO. Several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

The family will have a private memorial service in the future.
